Druid lore + gaming help
Racials are a bit of a mixed bag for Druids. For Feral, Tauren have 5 more base hp, Nightelves have +1 dodge. The other Racial differences don’t really help too much. Nightelves can stealth in any form (except bear?), but as Druids can stealth in cat form anyway. Tauren have a short AoE stun with warstomp that stuns 5 guys for 2 secs, which can be good for interrupting or running away. Can be cast in Caster, Moonkin and Tree forms only though. Nightelves have a handy whisp form when they die, which makes them move at +50 movespeed, which is great for long corpse runs. Both have a nature resistance of Ten, and Tauren have +10 to Herbalism. As for who the first Druids are, it appears Tauren were the first, but at some point, forgot, were distracted, turned away from druidism. It’s mentioned on Wowwiki that they were the first, however I’m pretty sure that was just whipped up to explain Tauren druids in the first place, which is why it doesn’t match up exactly with other lore, such as The War of the Ancients. Either way, Malfurion was the first Nightelf Druid. EDIT: Didn’t see your questions about spec. Generally, feral’s praised as a leveling spec, but if like me you prefer to cast spells, you can level as Balance fine. Might be a little slower (and these days it’d really be just little) but if you don’t like Meleeing, it’ll seem slower. Endgame Druids can do anything. Tank, Melee DPS, Heal, Caster DPS, we can do em all brilliantly. We offer things to the table that are different to all other classes (when was the last time a mage suddenly helped healing when the priest died – or rezzed the priest?) Edited, Aug 1st 2008 12:25pm by Micros-Milkros of The Armory, AgamagganI would say that the choice of race is more a personal preference as I don’t think either race has an upper hand. For talent builds I recommend Feral. My Druid is Feral spec’d and after getting cat form at level 20 I have had no problems in leveling. Can’t comment on end game as my toon is currently at level 53. I will say that of all the alts I created I like my kitty Druid best. Hakana Tauran Druid on Level 80 Tauren Druid DeathFrmAfar Level 61 Blood Elf Hunter UncleArthur Level 34 Orc Warlock ShamCow Level 17 Tauren ShamanI have a bit of trouble understanding with which race became the first druids. Taurens say they are from oral history and the Night Elves well said they were taught first by Cenarius. If you could clarify this for me that would be great. Just a bit of speculation here: “It describes how Malorne, being hunted by the tauren, bargained with Elune in exchange for help. Malorne accepted Elune’s help and loved her as part of the deal. Elune gave birth to Cenarius from that Wowwiki.com Does this mean the Tauren created druidism or at least caused it? Also looking to make a druid in the near future and was wondering as to which race has the upper hand in racials? What is the best spec to go for leveling and what is the end game expectation (tanking, dps, healer)? Thanks very much for the help in advance.
this is nice

Don’t like a topic, don’t reply to it! Darq and I have had enough of this elitist harassment that a few of you have exhibited on this thread and frankly, this is NOT the first time we have gotten complaints about a few of you. Can we also eat in cat/bear form as well? Not very important, but it would still be nice Edit: we should be able to eat the beasts we kill! Edited, Sep 15th 2008 1:37pm by
PVE Cat Talents Versus Bear
I would make a few changes. Omen of Clarity & Beserk are 2 of your strongest DPS talents, so at 70 you should have one or the other of those then pick the 2nd one up at level 71. I picked OOC for kitty DPS first. The other talents I have chosen that you haven’t are :- Feral Instinct :- The improved stealth is nice, but I really took this for the extra swipe damage. Swipe hits hard now and hits every target in front of you, not just 3 like it used to. It is our feral AoE and while questing there have been plenty of times I could grab 4-5 mobs at a time and swipe them down – really speeds up grind quests. Feral Swiftness :- The bonus movement speed works indoors as well as outdoors now and can really make a big difference in leveling speed. An extra couple of seconds running to the next mob doesn’t seem like much but when you are killing 100′s of mobs it makes a big difference. Shredding Attacks :- Allows me to make use of the pounce, mangle, shred, TF, shred opener which often almost kills the mob (or gives me a big head start on elites). I don’t always bother with the stealth opener, but with pounce, you can make use of it every 2nd mob without having to stealth all the way to the mob. Primal Precision :- The extra expertise means less misses, dodges and parries. Means it takes less attacks to kill a mob – always good.
Swipe This
Quote:Swipe We are going to take another look at Swipe. Since we are trying to fix some problems where druids are too good at tanking it seems reasonable to also look at cases where they struggle. Please don’t follow this up a dozen threads that say “My class needs compensation for nerfs too!” We generally don’t offer compensation for nerfs since they are supposed to be nerfs. But in this case we are trying to realize our goal of having 4 viable MT classes and druid AE threat generation is cumbersome. Swipe vs. other AE Tanking skills The benefit of Thunderclap is it does a lot of threat in one application. The downside is that if the warrior needs AE threat while it’s on cooldown, he needs to use another ability (Shockwave if talented, or perhaps Challenging Shout.) Consecrate and DnD have their downsides too. They tick, which is nice from a hands off approach. But it’s also really easy for a moving add to make it all the way through the pool without getting a tick on them. We were okay with Swipe being a little harder to use, since when it was used well it was just as effective as other AEs. But we now wonder if it has gone too far from a test of skill to a liability that makes people not want to group with druid tanks. Nobody wants to hear “Oh, just let the paladin grab the adds. It will be easier.” It was humiliating in Karazhan for the Holy paladin to tank the ghosts that the warrior or druid couldn’t hold down. (No disrepect to the pallies.) (Source ) What do you folks think about Swipe? I like Swipe now. I think of it as a shotgun. Great for just blasting wildly into packs of mobs. The delinking of Swipe from needing a target would make the analogy go even further but would to some extent make it be easy mode. Then again sometimes I do try and attack dead mobs. Also to great degree I like running around like a mad man corralling mobs into a nice little kill zone. It takes some skill but shouldn’t tanking? So the whole frontal cone part is fine with me as honestly it keeps me busy. Other wise tanking could be become gasp boring. So what do the other druids think of Shotgun, I mean Swipe?
Where are the PVP guides!?
PvP is something that is very hard to write a guide for, as it is so dynamic. The only thing you can really write about is stats and the most general tactics. Everything else… is kinda a learn by thing. PvP vids can help you learn. The biggest part of PvP is learning what OTHER classes do. If you don’t know that, then it doesn’t matter how skilled you are. You will never be able to counter or preemptively strike. You’ll never control an encounter. The three things you need to know for PvP: -Terrain of the field (for LoS and other purposes). -Your own class mechanics and abilities. -The abilities and possibly mechanics of other stra ehru oyt ube cafru oyt on wohsiIve checked the oboards, thedailydruid page, here, theres nothing about it! Ive been wanting to start up doing resto pvp, I already got a 4 piece deadly gladiator set, chest, leggings, gloves and shoulders. i’m keeping my stormrage thingie on from pve. But ive got no idea what to use! Anyone has any idea about this or could point me out a guide about it? Ive tried to go to elitistjerks but DEAR GOD, its too much yakkityyak about numbers and random crap in on topic im not gonna go through 25 pages of that, thats insane. They also have no GUIDES. Leveling areas best for hunters
Desolace and STV are both great suggestions. Stranglethorn has more quests than you can poke a stick at, so that area will keep you going for a while. Plus, the sheer amount of mobs there makes grinding up some levels not as slow as other places. Once you feel that you can take on some mid level 30′s and above mobs, you could also try the Badlands – which you can access through the side of Loch Modan. I haven’t really done many quests there but I used it to grind fairly often during my 30′s. Don’t forget instances too. If you have a good guild, or an active collection of friends then try doing some runs through Scarlet Monastery. A few trips will not only get you some nice xp, but you’ll also bag yourself some nice loot that you can either use or sell on the AH to put towards your forthcoming mount.
how good is Shell Shield?
I’ve had a raptor for most of my time in WoW, and I’m now level 70. It’s a great pet, but it has trouble tanking high 60′s elite mobs (referring to non-quest elites, which are feasible for pets to tank). It just tends to die earlier than I’d like, since it has [relatively] low HP and armor. I end up using most of my mana (and wasting lots of time) trying to heal it. I was thinking of getting myself a situational pet for cases like this. The most purely defensive pet I could find was a turtle, mostly due to its Shell Shield skill. To me, it seems like a make-or-break ability in an elite fight (or for tanking multiple mobs), assuming it can hold agro. The problem is, the highest level turtle in the game (according to petopia) is level 54. I went out and tamed one, and gained 2 levels for it killing greens (I had to melee a lot!) which took me 3+ hours. Since it will require many days to get it to level 70, I was wondering if someone could give me a preview of what to expect once I get there, so that I can decide whether it’s worth it. I am BM spec, and my raptor has 11500 armor. With 13 more, the turtle would have 13000. Is this a big enough difference to be worthwhile, and also is Shell Shield as good as I expect it to be? I haven’t seen many turtle pets on my server, so I wonder if this means they are not as good as I may think. Edited, Feb 14th 2007 6:48pm by Broarrsecond page of the FAQ thread. good horde equpiment
has a quest for leggings called Triprunner Dungarees that are +18 Agility and you get them from a quest in Org (Engineering Shop) I think Gnomer is a 28+ instance, so maybe you’re a little low. RFK has the Corpsemaker which alot of Hunters tend to use even though it doesn’t have any real hunter stats. Also drops Quilboar gear, which has good stats for a hunter. Wailing Caverns has the Fang Gear which is good, especially the leggings but you’re close enough for the Triprunner Dungarees that you might not want to spend time on those.
This is not a poetry recital forum!
Quote:Dude, it was one thread. How about putting up a sticky letting people know that they shouldn’t make thread titles in all caps? Or that they shouldn’t make new threads when replying to an already existing thread would’ve been enough. Perhaps it’s not a forum about sappy romantic poems, but I happen to prefer sappy poem threads over threads like these. Use your eyes. He’s right, theres more than one thread. And replying to that thread wouldnt be enough because a large proportion of people would look at the posters name, realise its got a 90 chance of including poetry then think ‘No, i don’t think so’ Thus our posts don’t get read by the majority. PvP skills for the pet
I tamed King B for PvP as well, but I just started doing PvP so don’t really know what best yet. So far I’ve given mine: Growl, Claw, Dash, Prowl, Natural Armor and Frost Resist. Prowl – so I can try to pounce on unsuspecting Horde or maybe for stealthed scouting. Frost Resist – since my pet and I were constantly getting frosted or frozen while the Horde Hunters King B wasn’t, so I was hoping the Frost Resist would help. I like King B for PvE too, which is why I gave him growl, but since it seems to be completly ineffective in PvP it would probably be best to train Bite instead of Growl. Remember to make your Skill choices carefully for King B, because once your pay to untrain him you will loose Cobra Reflexes (leveling up my second King B because I was over tired and completly forgot >
